Hi all, my ID said my carpentry work is made of "Solid plywood". I heard of solid wood, I heard of plywood, I've never heard of "solid plywood". The picture shows what I'm given. Can anyone tell me if this is indeed "solid plywood"? It's a type of plywood for sure since its multiple pieces glued together. but it doesn't look "solid" to me. Thanks in advance.

regards,

Zen

Hi Zen, I think by solid plywood they meant that the core of the ply within contains a solid piece. Could it be the thick piece which you see at the right end of it?

Solid ply is quite common in certain above mid end furniture. Muji seems to use it quite often back in the days, when they make a lot of "solid wood" furniture.

They are generally used when the consumer desires the weight, strength and durability of solid wood, yet with the beautiful finishing of certain grains that does comes with solid wood, as real solid wood have blemishes and knots. So they use a nice wood veneer, or high quality laminate and wrap it over the solid wood inner.

However from your photo is it multiple pieces of wood? Or is it just one piece?
