Hello,

I have recently completely renovated my room and toilet (tore down walls, rebuild partittion) and had limeplastering done. However, less than 1 months after the limeplaster work was done, multiple long fine cracks kept appearing. They were able to touch up the bedroom's cracks but for the toilet, the toilet cracks persist despite the touch ups, still staying clearly visible/even more obvious. The limeplaster company said that the toilet requires a layer of sealant and hence they can't touch up as well as the cracks in the bedroom.

It is about 6 months now and and more long fine cracks are appearing in my bathroom. Prior to starting, the limeplaster company did warn that there may be some small imperfections/cracks but I did not expect it to be this bad.

Does anyone else have experience with limeplaster? I am not sure if I am being advantage of at this point.

Probably the prep work or the post sealant was not done probably. Cracks is a sign of expansion and contraction beneath the plaster.

Did you allow sufficient time for the works to cured fully before showering there?

Lime plaster are porous, they need a slow, controlled drying process for them to settle properly is tricky.  If it dried too quickly can crack, not dry enough before applying next layer or sealed can also cause future cracks. Curious why did you choose this material for bathroom?

Thanks for the input. How long do they usually need to cure/dry?

We chose limeplaster as we enjoyed how it felt in a hotel that we stayed in overseas.

I am not a contractor so hard for me to say.

But usually materials used overseas are not as suitable to be used in Sg's crazy hot and humid climate all year round.

Some of the wood carvings I brought back from Japan grew mold even when AC is on half the time.
